Things to do
Carman Dufferin is packed with day trip ideas for every season. We encourage you to create your own or use one of the following we have created for you. Our series of day trips are great for families and cultural explorers of all ages, whether you’re looking for an active adventure, a taste of something new or simply a relaxing day away from home.
Admire Nature’s Beauty
Plan your garden and admire the view at Vanderveen’s Greenhouses, famous for supplying Manitobans with bedding plants and poinsettias for more than 30 years, with over 20 acres of greenhouse space offering a dazzling array of plants. Visit the Vanderveen’s website for public hours.
Peruse the perennials, fruit trees, and more at Aubin Nurseries Garden Centre. A Manitoba mainstay, Aubin has been growing a stellar selection of plants since 1927 and features over 500 acres of evergreens, bedding plants, shrubbery, and more.
Finally, immerse yourself in nature with a stroll down Carman’s Community Pathway. Winding through the community, the multi-use path features a river walk that follows the meandering Boyne river. The pathway is perfect for walking, jogging, and biking.
Take your kayak or canoe out for a leisurely paddle on the scenic Boyne River and see the community from a different and relaxing perspective.
Take a Step Back in Time
Located in Carman on the corner of King’s Park Road and Highway 245, the Dufferin Historical Museum boasts beautifully preserved collections of turn-of-the-century furniture, clothing, tools and weapons, a 1902 fire cart and a 1904 post office, and much more. The museum offers visitors an inside look at the way of life lived by the area’s settlers and predecessors. While there, you can also tour the 1870’s Sexsmith-Morgan log house, or the historic Boyne School, located on the museum site.
